OnlineMedsource is developing a new software application targeted at institutions of higher learning. Called the Electronic Student Health Record or eSHR, this system allows universities, colleges and other learning institutions to provide their students with a school branded Personal Health Record (PHR). At the same time, students can provide medical information which is securely stored to be accessed by authorized personnel in the event of an emergency medical situation. Students can request appointments online from the school’s health center or clinics, and follow-up information can be shared with the student through eSHR. Other features include the ability for facility or staff to look up pertinent information in cases of emergency, which saves precious time and possibly lives.  Other uses include sending messages to the student body to inform, direct or even warn the students in cases of emergencies and events.   The system is then carried with the student, branded with the school’s logo, for their entire life.
